I think my heightmap is kinda doing what it should be in SD...



but when I bring it into toolbag I get this weird effect. I'm new to toolbag so am guessing this is a common issue? What setting do I need to change?

I'm sorry I'm not really sure. I see you are using tessellation but I think the geo is not tessellating well enough for the horizontal displacement meaning the edge flow is bad. Can you post a wireframe of the mesh before you tessellate? I think If you subdivide the plane in your 3D app to a good amount and use that directly in toolbag it should be fine.
