Author Topic: Baking Maps  (Read 489 times)

Hello everybody

I am a beginner from Substance Painter and I followed the lantern tutorial.
video 2 explains how to do the baking maps using the "lantern_id.fbx" file that I downloaded from the "Download Assets" link.
Could anyone tell me how to get an "xxxx_id: fbx" file of an object from 3DS Max 2010?
Thank you.

Hi,

The ID FBX is just a version of the mesh that has multiple materials applied. The material colors are used as the IDs. Each material color is baked to the ID map.

From max, you just export an fbx that has multiple materials applied to the mesh.
